Many congratulations to Liverpool’s John Whitty who became the new Merseyside Open Champion with a superb 4-3 victory over Ian Brumby in a quality final which rolled back the years for two of Merseyside’s finest ever cue-men….

This is the fourth time that the 41 year old left hander has lifted the title since his first victory back in 1997 and admitted afterwards that this one was the sweetest….

Whitty had earlier beat Clayton Humphries in the semifinal while Ian Brumby beat Jason Tart in their semifinal in another final frame decider.
